How Featured News Is Made
Short stories tied to the news, built from the perspectives of verified experts, edited by a person.
The Process
- An editor writes a question about a news story and sends it to verified experts on Connectively and, for general questions, to HARO. Most questions close within 48 hours, or sooner when enough perspectives are in.
- Experts answer in their own words. Every answer is checked on the spot: written as an answer, specific, on the question, free of promotion, from a verified profile, and written by the expert (screened for AI-generated text). Every perspective that passes is published on the story page under the expert’s real name, title and employer.
- The editor selects four to eight perspectives to feature, edits the headline, dek and a brief intro that links to the original reporting, and publishes. Quotes are never edited for meaning; trims are recorded.
People
Every story is edited by a Featured News editor, named on the story and linked to their page. Featured News is produced by Featured (Terkel, Inc., Scottsdale, Arizona).
Disclosures
Experts featured on this site are members of Connectively, Featured’s expert network. Membership and payment never decide whose perspective is published; selection is editorial, and experts are not paid for perspectives. Images on Featured News are never AI-generated.
Corrections
Corrections are made on the original story with a dated note, and pushed to feeds and to the sites we operate. Publishers who republished a corrected story are notified in their hub and by email. Email corrections@featured.com.
